20 Mar Te Puia Vesting Bill deferred – Covid-19

As you know the Covid-19 virus has created an unprecedented situation for the Tourism industry.
Te Puia NZMACI has been impacted more than most given its huge reliance on overseas tourists. A crisis management plan is currently being worked through by the Board and Management of Te Puia.
Following discussions with the future Iwi owners, and the Minister for Maori Development, the decision has been made to defer the Third Reading of the Te Puia Vesting Bill. Among other things this will provide continuity and enable Te Puia and the Government to work together to put Te Puia on the best footing possible in these very difficult times before the business is vested in the future Iwi owners.
The Third Reading will proceed at some time in the future as agreed between the future Iwi owners and the Minister.
